De Novem Ordinibus Supernorum Spirituum

O gloriosissimi lux vivens angeli,

qui infra divinitatem divinos oculos

cum mystica obscuritate omnis creaturæ aspicitis

in ardentibus desideriis, unde numquam potestis satiari.

quorum forma fulget in facie vestra,

et o vos archangeli

qui suscipitis animas iustorum,

et vos virtutes,

potestates, principatus, dominationes et throni,

qui estis computati in quantum secretum numerum,

et o vos cherubim et seraphim,

sigillum secretorum Dei,

[R] Sit laus vobis,

qui loculum antiqui cordis in fonte aspicitis.

Videtis enim interiorem vim Patris,

quæ de corde illius spirat quasi facies.

To the Nine Orders of Heavenly Spirits

O most glorious living light, which lives in divinity!

Angels who fix your eyes with ardent desire

Amid the mystical darkness surrounding all creatures

On Him with Whom your desires can never be sated!

O glorious joy, to live in your form and nature!

For you are free from every deed of evil,

Although that evil first appeared in your comrade,

The fallen angel, who tried to soar above God,

And therefore that twisted one was submerged in ruin.

And then for himself a greater fall he prepared

By his suggestions to those whom God's fingers made.

Responsory for the Angels

O you angels, who guard the people,

With your shining faces,

O you archangels,

Who take just souls into Heaven,

And you virtues,

Powers, princedoms, dominions, and thrones,

Those who by five are secretly counted,

And o you cherubim and seraphim,

Seal of God's secrets:

[R] Praise to you,

Who behold in the fountain the little place of the ancient heart.

For you see the inmost strength of the Father,

Which breathes from his heart like a face.

[R]
